Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Workshop at Jahangirnagar University. Youth Club of Bangladesh touched off its second phase of ‘Values of Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution’ workshop at Zahir Raihan Auditorium, Jahangirnagar University on 28 November 2014.

Youth Club of Bangladesh touched off its second phase of ‘Values of Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution’ workshop at Zahir Raihan Auditorium, Jahangirnagar University on 28 November 2014. The workshop covered among young leaders, youth activists, students, knowledge seeker and anyone else with a keen interest in approaching peacebuilding creatively numbered around forty participants.

Rafiqul Alam Khan possessed anchoring position and started the event with Ice breaking session. Rafiq is one of the young peacbuilder who have immense potentiality and rigorously recognized as protagonist facilitatior. Rakibul Hasan, former Research Assistance of BIPSS and Sub – Editor of Bangladesh Today gave stereophonic shape of the program. As a fresh Young Peacebuilder he endeavored to expose various case studies of peace process in South Asia and reflects the views of both insiders and outsiders to the conflict. His keynote speech is a benchmark on Peace and Conflict Transformation issues where his thematic area was ‘Commonalities and Uniqueness’. Enthralling personality like Rakib emulates others and manages to bestow an air of bohemia in the room the moment he conducted session.

Nasib, event coordinator, Jahangirnagar University underlying about his fundamental perception of Peacebuilding and conflict Resolution in this manner, “Like all civilizations of the world are now yearning for peace, be it social peace, economic peace, cultural peace, or psychological peace.”

According to Social Scientists, conflict is natural and not necessarily bad, but this challenge is how to transform violent conflict, which is always bad, creatively through dialogue so that broken relationships can be restored and the aspirations of the parties in conflict can be realized by peaceful means.

While talking about Youth Club of Bangladesh among participants Shamim Ahmed pointed out that “Grandiose change comes from action. Action speaks louder than words. And it is the obligation to youth to make the Action real. It goes without saying that Youth Club of Bangladesh is beacon for youth who are the future conjurer of our nation”.

The workshop is under the project titled ‘Peace for South Asia’, is a broad – based dimensional project committed to promoting greater understanding and peace within Youth communities in South Asia. Participants have significantly fathom collective learning process about understanding of the causes of conflict, ways and means to transform conflict and build sustainable peace as well as build up knowledge and skills in promoting peace. The goal of the course was to promote a new generation of young peacebuilders for peace, solidarity and sustainable development in South Asia.
