The minister was forced to get out of his home to speak with the protesters. It was on Sunday night, 21 February: Dozens of angry farmers demonstrated in front of the Minister of Agriculture Stephane Le Foll's home, the norther city of Mans, close to that of his colleague, the Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Around thirty farmers went to Stephane Le Foll's home. He opened the backdoor and engaged in a tense dialogue with the protesters that lasted about one hour, said an AFP reporter.

"How am I supposed to deal with my bills ?", asked one breeder, meanwhile another sparked the minister's anger by assimilating him to his predecessor Jerome Cahuzac, who was prosecuted for tax evasion.

"I am doing what I'm expected to do, I'm doing my job", replied Mr Le Foll during these lenghty talks.

A banner with the following slogan "We are penniless" was fixed on the minister's garden hedge, along with a coffin indicating "Mort pour la France"("Morts pour la France").

"He looked very surprised to see us", said milk produced Francois Thomelin. "We have nothing, we are broke and we are doomed", he confessed. "He claims little responsibility for what's happening to us, an argument with which we were not quite pleased".

A similar action led by another group of farmers trying to reach the Minister of Defence Jean-Yves Le Drian's home took place within the same region, in Britanny but failed as they were stopped by the authorities.
