While investigating on a homophobic assault in Morocco, a team of French Canal + reporters was arrested on Sunday, said the local media. The team apparently arrived on Sunday in the city of Beni Mellal (central zone of the country) where the trial of two homosexuals and the 6 agressors was to take place.

The reporters were arrested by the police as they started to shoot some footage of the district where the two homosexuals were living, says website Qushq.

As soon as they arrived in Benni Mellal, the two reporters were 'turned in by the district residents who support the agressors'. They did not seek authorisation to shoot as hardly ever do one obtain such a permission.

They were kept about twelve hours in the Prefecture of Beni Mellal, before being transferred to the police of Casablanca airport. Then, they were monitored during the night. Eventually they were sent back to France by aircraft.

Their investigation was related to a Youtube video of the assault the two homosexuals went through. One can see two naked men, with bleeding faces, being savagely beaten up by a group of young people swearing at them.

In Morocco, homosexuality still is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
