LATIN AMERICA & CARIBBEAN: The eruption of Guatemala’s Fuego has caused a great deal of loss for many people who were unfortunately caught in the disaster.

Now, there are arguments taking place on whether the people were given warnings in time, before the volcano erupted.

The National Institute for Seismology and Volcanology, states they had given the warnings well in advance and that the fault lies with the civil emergency authority, Conred.

Conred’s Twitter account stated that it wasn’t necessary to evacuate at as late as 11 AM, on the day of eruption.

The organization, on the other hand, has denied this claim and have stated that their warnings were ignored.

The senior opposition leader, Mario Taracena, has stated that the government should investigate further, if there was any criminal negligence.

The death toll of this disaster has increased to 99 people and there have been reports of 200 people missing.
