Used plastic water bottles were littered everywhere and garbage was piled up all over the platforms in the railway station rail2Rajampet (Kadapa): Rajampet railway station resembles a garbage dump as there were no personnel for cleaning operations. With the lapse of cleaning contract with a private agency 20 days ago, the station is deprived of cleaning and regular waste maintenance. Even though Rajampet is a Lok Sabha constituency and is represented by Sai Pratap and Minister of State for Railways K Surya Prakash Reddy was also from the region, there was no one to take responsibility for keeping the station premises clean. The railway station that was modernized with crores of rupees became useless. Commuters were facing problems as drinking water was not available and toilets are unusable. Used plastic water bottles were littered everywhere and garbage was piled up all over the platforms and corridors of the railway station. Despite complaints there was no response from the officials. People and railway employees were demanding the Railway Board to take responsibility for the cleaning operations and to maintain cleanliness in the station. Railway employees and local leaders warned to launch an agitation if the problem is not resolved.
