Karimnagar: Distsrict Collector M Veera Brahmaiah has said that the response from the common people for `Grama Sandarshana’ (visit to villages) programme was good. The programme would help in taking various welfare schemes launched by the State and Central governments to the doorsteps of general public. Beneficiaries of different schemes can be identified and action can be taken against the officials if there are lapses on their part in implementing schemes, he said.
Addressing a press conference in the town on Friday, Mr Veera Brahmaiah has said that Grama Sandarshana programme was conducted in 285 panchayats and 88 wards in five phases in the district so far. As many as 44,803 persons were inspected in medical camps and medicines worth Rs 14,88,391 were distributed to needy patients free of cost, he said.
The Collector said 1,00,601 cattle were examined in veterinary camps and medicines worth Rs 7,21,613 were given to the beneficiaries freely. Officials inspected 443 ration shops, 551 Anganwadi centres, 574 schools and 122 Primary Health Centres during the programme. In addition, officials also inspected Mid-Day Meal Scheme works at 412 schools and 152 Social Welfare hostels.
During the programmes, 48,196 applications from common people were received by the officials. Of them 10,572 are related to issue of white ration cards. He also urged the people to make use of Grama Sandarshana programme in the district on Thursdays. MLAs, MP, Sarpanches, officials and villagers expressed their happiness for implementing `Grama Sandarshana’ programme.
