The representatives of the Telangana Rashtra BC Front (TRBCF) launched a 48-hour indefinite hunger strike demanding the government to reimburse the fee immediately apart from enhancing the scholarship amount to Rs 1,000 here at Dharna Chowk in Khammam on Thursday.

Fee reimbursement and scholarship enhancement

Khammam: The representatives of the Telangana Rashtra BC Front (TRBCF) launched a 48-hour indefinite hunger strike demanding the government to reimburse the fee immediately apart from enhancing the scholarship amount to Rs 1,000 here at Dharna Chowk in Khammam on Thursday.

Starting the 48-hour indefinite hunger strike, the State president of TRBCF, Kothakondla Srilakshmi said, “During the Telangana movement, it was the students who stood in front row and faced lot of odds and some even sacrificed their lives for separate State. But, the government forget all those and neglecting students and their issues.”

“At present, the government is paying Rs 380 for Inter students and Rs 600 for PG students as scholarship, which is not at all sufficient for them. The government must increase the scholarship amount to Rs 1,000 for all students along with releasing the total amount of Rs 3,200 crore for fee reimbursement,” she demanded.

“We will intensify the agitation all over the State if government fails to address the students’ issues,” she warned the government. TRBCF State leades Dr K V Krishna Rao, district president T Narasimha Rao, city president Syed Basha, IV Prasad, M Venkanna, B Usha, K Rama Devi, N Suresh, K Saraiah, K Vinay, B Naveen Kumar, K Venkatesh and others took part in the protest.
