The leaders of the CPM staged a dharna here in front of the collectorate at Dharna Chowk and gave a memorandum to the District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar here in Khammam on Monday demanding the administration take stringent actions immediately against the accused.

Khammam: The District Secretary of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Ponnam Venkateshwarlu demanded the government to slap PD Act and register cases as per Indian Penal Code, Section 120B against those involved fake chilli powder racket here on Monday.

The leaders of the CPM staged a dharna here in front of the collectorate at Dharna Chowk and gave a memorandum to the District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar here in Khammam on Monday demanding the administration take stringent actions immediately against the accused.

Speaking on the occasion, Venkateshwarlu said in the last 10 days the vigilance and enforcement officials conducted raids at Madira and Khammam rural areas and seized the fake chilli powder worth of Rs 45 crore. However, due to the pressure of some ruling party leaders, the officials registered simple cases against the accused.

The State Committee member of the party Nunna Nageshwar Rao said, “The TRS party leaders who boasted that they will bring ‘Bangaru Telangana’ changed it into ‘Fake Telangana’ with fake seeds, fake chilli powder and fake palm oil.” He alleged that one of the corporators of the TRS party was involved in the racket and in order to save him, the TRS government was not taking any serious action against the accused.

Party members Y Srikanth, M Ramesh, Y Srinivas, Y Vikram, B Ramesh, N Manohar, B Malsur, Vasireddy Varaprasad, B Padma and G Rama Devi were present along with others.
