Speaking during a review meeting held with the Tahasildars and Mandal Development Officers here at Technical Training and Development Centre (TTDC) in Khammam on Friday, the Collector said out of the set target of 90,000 toilets, only 30,000 toilets were constructed in the district till date.

Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar ordered the officials to take necessary steps for speeding up the construction of toilets in the district.

Speaking during a review meeting held with the Tahasildars and Mandal Development Officers here at Technical Training and Development Centre (TTDC) in Khammam on Friday, the Collector said out of the set target of 90,000 toilets, only 30,000 toilets were constructed in the district till date.

The Collector ordered the officials to make perfect planning for completion of construction works of remaining toilets and help the district in achieving open defecation-free tag.

“With the coordination of Village Revenue Officer, Village Assistants, Coordinators of Sakshar Bharat, Asha workers and Anganwadi workers, special focus must paid for completing the construction works of toilets in the village by constructing at least 2,000 toilets every week,” said the Collector.

He also suggested the officials to take steps to put check to fake chilli powder trade apart from establishing dumping yards in every village Panchayat.

“Take necessary steps to curb the use of plastic in retail shops by conducting regular checks, and organize awareness programmes on ill effects of plastic usage by conducting meeting with the owners,” the Collector told. He also ordered the officials to identify the suitable land for the construction of the school buildings along with taking special measures for prevention of eve-teasing.

District Joint Collector Vinay Krishna Reddy, District Revenue Officer J Shiva Srinivas, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh, Project Director of DRDA Muralidar Rao, District Panchayat Officer Srinivas Reddy, Mandal officers and Tahasildars attended the review meet.
