Goddess Sita consider as Ramadasu daughter
There is a unique tradition in Sri Rama Navami celebrations of performing the celestial wedding of Lord Srirama with his consort Sita. As part of the wedding ritual, the priests tie a three-piece Mangalsutra to the idol of Goddess Sita.
Bhadrachalam: There is a unique tradition in Sri Rama Navami celebrations of performing the celestial wedding of Lord Srirama with his consort Sita. As part of the wedding ritual, the priests tie a three-piece Mangalsutra to the idol of Goddess Sita.
Speaking to The Hans India, Vedic scholar Sanyasi Sarma of the temple said that the Mangalsutra which usually used in marriages has two-pieces of gold, where one piece is given by the bride’s side and another from the groom’s side.
However, contrary to this the Mangalsutra tied to Goddess Sita has three pieces of gold. While one piece pertains to the King Dasaradha, father of Lord Rama, another piece to Janaka Maharaja, Sita’s father, and the third piece to Saint Ramadasu.
It is believed that Ramadasu considers Goddess Sita as his daughter and hence presented the three-piece mangalstura, unheard of anywhere in the country.
