Khammam: The district administration has been taking various developmental activities in the district by giving priority to Khammam city, informed Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.
On Wednesday, Tummala along with local MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar laid foundation stone for the construction of a godown with the storage capacity of 5,000 metric tons at a cost of Rs 3 crore, here at Manchukonda village in Raghunathapalem mandal.
The Minister also inaugurated the vegetable cooling chamber, guest house for farmers and office building at vegetable market near DRDA office.
Speaking on the occasion, Tummala said the State government was striving hard for the welfare of farmers and was constructing godowns for storing their food grains until they get minimum support price apart from providing the facility of sanctioning loans on the stored food grains through Rythu Bandham Scheme.
As part of developing roads, the government is investing Rs 250 crore for the construction of a ring road surrounding the Khammam city along with extending roads to nearby villages, informed the Minister.
MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar said the construction of godowns would be highly helpful to the farming community. “There is a delay in the construction of godowns in the Khammam constituency due to unavailability of suitable land.
The officials must take necessary steps for construction of godowns in the constituency by searching the lands as early as possible,” he suggested.
Khammam Agricultural Market Committee Chairman RJC Krishna, SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, Seed Development Corporation Chairman Kondabala Koteshwar Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadepally Kavitha, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, City Mayor Dr Papa Lal, Deputy Mayor Battula Murali, District Revenue Officer Purnachandra, Chief Executive Officer of ZP Marapaka Nagesh, MPDO Aluri Srinivas Rao, Tahsildar Sri Latha, Divisional Engineer of Marketing Department Sirajuiddin and MPP Shantha were present along with others.
