Khammam: District president of Congress party Aitham Satyam demanded the government to suspend the GO 39, which will annul the local bodies and their rights.

On Monday, the leaders and party activists of the Congress staged a dharna demanding the government suspend GO 39 here at the mandal revenue office in Khammam.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyam alleged that the ruling TRS government in the name of giving protection to the farmers had introduced the said GO against the Indian Constitution by dissolving the local bodies and their rights.

“The TRS is trying to deceive farmers by constituting Farmer Coordination Committees (FCC). In name of farmer panels, the TRS is making them as rehabilitation centres for politically unemployed persons in an undemocratic way to safeguard party interests,” he criticised.

Demanding the TRS government to suspend the GO immediately, the agitating leaders gave a representation to the Mandal Revenue Officer.

Congress leaders Neralla Sharada, Corporators Y Tilak, V Narasimhulu, Md Tajuiddin, V Shankar Rao, Bandi Mani, Harinath Babu, P Mallaiah, Shekar Goud, Veera Reddy, Babul Reddy, B Ramesh, Chenna Rao, Rabbani, Kanaka Raju and Rajitha were present along with others.
