Kothagudem: MP and honorary chairperson of the TRS-affiliated trade union Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), Kalvakuntla Kavitha has doled out a number of sops for the Singareni workers.

Offering jobs to the wards of the workers under hereditary quota, she said an incentive of Rs 25 lakh would be paid to the family that refuses jobs under the quota.

Addressing the coal miners in Kothagudem, Illandu and Manuguru on the last day of the campaign on Tuesday, she fervently appealed to the coal miners to vote for TBGKS and strive for the workers’ welfare.

She recalled how the TRS government allocated Rs 100 crore for the TSRTC to strengthen it in the new state. The credit for giving 44 per cent fitment allowance goes to the State government, she reminded.

Turning tables on the recognised trade unions that had wielded power so far, she accused them of thwarting attempts to recruit personnel under dependent quota.

She said the TRS made the SCCL explore coal in new mines and prevented it from closing the underground mines at Bhupalapalli, Illandu and Ramagundam and Mandamarri. She dared the AITUC whether it would provide jobs under dependent quota if voted to power.

She promised regularization of services of 2014 batch workers, applying the cadre scheme and incentives to all cadres of workers, air-conditioner facility to workers quarters in summer, observing a holiday in the SCCL on Ambedkar birth anniversary, fight on the floor of the Lok Sabha for income tax waiver to the SCCL workers, interest-free loan up to Rs 6 lakh, 100 per cent tuition fee reimbursement to workers’ children pursuing education in IITs and IIMs.

MLC Palla Rajeswar Reddy, MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao, Khammam ZPTC chairperson Gadipalli Kavita, local MPP Banoth Kesley, municipal chairperson Puli Geeta, trade union leaders and others took part in the campaign.

Meanwhile, the hectic campaigning by various trade unions during the past four days came to a close by 5 pm on Tuesday. Campaigning was carried out in the SCCL corporate office, coal mines in various areas, SCCL headquarters, Singareni hospital, workshop, GKOC and other places.

There was no campaigning on Sunday and Monday on account of Public holidays. For two days, the trade unions undertook door-to-door campaign and the last two days it was done at work places and offices.

Bike rallies were also organised. The trade unions alleged that there is scope for the TBGKS influencing the workers on the last day.

The polling would be held from 7 am to 5 pm on October 5. There are 15 trade unions in the fray. TNTUC and INTUC threw their weight behind the AITUC.

TBGKS and HMS entered into an alliance, while the CITU is going it alone. The SCCL officials have made arrangements for voting establishing 92 polling booths in 11 mining areas. The counting of votes will be held on October 6.
