Bhadrachalam: A Maoist leader of Korakatpad village in Cherla mandal, Madakam Devaiah (28), surrendered on Thursday before ASP Sunil Dutt, Bhadrachalam, after sustained efforts through his family by the police to give up.

After being appointed as a member of Revolutionary People’s Committee (RPC) in 2010, from 2014 to 2015, Devaiah, belonging to Guthikoya community, worked under the leadership of Kiran, Khammam District Committee member. In 2016, he was elevated as Korakatpad village RPC secretary. In his capacity, he worked under the guidance of Azad, secretary of the district committee.

Devaiah was entrusted with the task of supervising the work of village RPCs of Veerapuram, Bakkachinthalapadu, Puligundala and Kondavai.
