Kalyana Lakshmi aid for 205 beneficiaries
Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques, totaling Rs 53.75 lakh, have been handed over to 205 persons. They include 33 in Lakshmidevipalli, 86 in Kothagudem, 41 in Chunchupalli and 45 in Sujatanagar mandals of the district.

This was stated on Thursday by Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao at the cheque distribution programme in Lakshmidevipalli, Kothagudem, Chunchupalli and Sujatanagar mandals. He said the benefits of the scheme which were hitherto limited to SCs and STs were now being extended to persons belonging to BC communities.
The MLA stated that numbers of child marriages had fallen after the government introduced the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak scheme. He said the Tahsildars were examining requests for assistance under the scheme whenever they received and extending immediate aid to the applicants.
Among those present at the function were Municipal Vice-Chairperson Puli Geeta, RDO Ravindranath, ZPTC Member Paramjyoti Rao, Tahsildars Sunil Reddy, Ashok Chakravarthy and Swamy, besides people’s representatives.
