Mahbubnagar: With an aim to transform the Badepally Municipality (Jadcherla) into model Urban Local Body (ULB) in Mahbubnagar district, the State government has released Rs 14 crores for taking up 104 developmental works. The Badepally Municipality which comes under the Jadcherla Assembly constituency, represented by Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy, has been facing delays in the developmental works for a very long time. Having learnt about this, the Health Minister has taken keen interest in ensuring taking up various developmental works on a fast track and make the municipality a model one in the district.

In view of this, the municipal authorities have chalked out an ambitious development plan to take up 104 works costing up to Rs 14 crore. “As a people’s representative from Jadcherla Assembly constituency, the development of Badepally Municipality is at the core of my mind. I have been apprised of various issues bogging the people in the municipality. I have directed the municipal commissioner to prepare a detailed development plan for the municipality so as to make it a model ULB in the district,” informed the Minister.

The major works that are pending in the Badepally municipality include provision of permanent drinking water facility, installation of new streetlights and repairs to old lights, construction of Concrete Cement (CC) roads and widening and de-silting of existing drain systems in the municipality. As the municipality is spreading in length and breadth, the narrow roads have become congested and traffic jams at the junctions have become frequent. In view of this, last year Rs 4 crore was sanctioned for the widening of internal ring road from Signal Gadda to Netaji Statue Circle road in the Old Bazaar. However, these works are still half done and delayed due to legal hassles of demolition of houses.

However with the Health Minister taking special care, the municipal officials are hoping that things will move at a faster pace and Badepally will soon emerge as a model ULB in the district. “In the past few years, the Badepally municipality has been facing may civic issues. But with the intervention of Health Minister, the government has released Rs 14 crore. As the tender process for the developmental works is already completed, we are expecting all the works will be taken up very soon and completed in a time bound manner,” said Vadyala Sunitha, Municipal Commissioner, Badepally.
