Officials asked to develop ST lands

Vikarabad: District Collector Divya Devarajan on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to take steps for development of lands belonging to the scheduled tribes under the Indira Jalaprabha scheme. Addressing a meeting of officials of Agriculture, Horticulture, Groundwater, Irrigation and Scheduled Tribes Welfare, she instructed officials of the Revenue, Forest and Agriculture Departments to take up a survey of the lands belong to the STs and bring them under cultivation through TRICOR.

The Collector said the lands in the Chenchu villages of Rampur, Chenchupalli, Chaitanya Nagar, Palwid should be surveyed first. She asked the officials depute geologists to ascertain whether the lands have water source to drill borewells. Thus, efforts should be made to make the lands suitable for cultivation.

Among those present at the meeting were DTDA Hanumanth Rao, Groundwater Department officer Chandra Reddy, Horticulture officer Sanjay Kumar, DFO Srilakshmi, and officials of DRDA, Agriculture and Irrigation Departments.
