Mahbubnagar: Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy inaugurated the newly-established red gram procurement centre in Devarkadra market yard on Wednesday. This is the first such centre established by the State government in Devarkadra. Last year, the government established a procurement centre in Mahbubnagar where farmers from Devarkadra had to travel more than 20 kilometers to get access to it.

Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said the State government was taking all measures for building market infrastructure for farmers and was also providing them minimum support price for their produce. “Earlier red gram farmers used to go all the way to Tandoor in Ranga Reddy and Raichur in Karnataka to sell their produce. But now, the government is taking all measures to ensure their produce is procured by the government at their own place by providing minimum support price,” said the Minister.

Later, the Minister took part in the Christmas dinner organised by the government at Kaukuntla village. He said the government was giving equal priority to all the communities besides extending a helping hand to poor to celebrate their festivals by gifting new clothes. Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy and others accompanied the Minister.
