Nalgonda: State Election Commissioner V Nagireddy advised the district administrations of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri to make all necessary arrangements for 5th Gram Panchayat elections likely to be held in May next year.
On Thursday, he conducted a review meeting with Collectors and SPs of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri districts with regard to arrangements for Gram Panchayat elections at the meeting hall in Nalgonda district Collectorate.
Addressing the officials concerned, he said even though elections would be conducted as per government’s decision, all necessary arrangements should be made as per the schedule.
He advised the respective officials to prepare ward-wise and Gram Panchayat-wise voters list by January 20 and make necessary arrangements for printing of ballot papers.
He also advised the officials to cross check the available staff and additional staff required to conduct the elections in a smooth manner.
He informed that State Election Commission has decided to conduct state-level training classes to master trainees on December 28 and suggested the district officials to identify and send the master trainees to the training classes.
He advised the police bosses of the districts to cross check the available forces and recommendations for requirement of additional forces to avoid any untoward incidents during the elections. He suggested District Collectors to send budget proposals for elections expenditure.
Nalgonda Collector Gaurav Uppal, Suryapet Collector Surendra Mohan and Bhongir Collector Anita Ramachandran gave all the details including the district rural population, number of male voters, female voters , number of Gram Panchayats, wards, polling booths established and number of phases in which elections going to be conducted in respective districts.
Commission Secretary M Ashok Kumar, Nalgonda SP DV Srinivas Rao, Suryapet SP Prakash Jadav, Yadadri DCP Ramachandra Reddy, Election Commission Joint Secretary Vishnu, Nalgonda DRO Kheemya Naik, three districts RDOs, selected mandal Tahsildars and MPDOs took part in the meeting.
