Nalgonda: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao informed that elections to gram panchayats would be conducted as per the schedule and notification would be issued only after the formation of new Panchayats.

Addressing the media at Choutuppal of Yadadri district and at Halia in Nalgonda district on Wednesday, the Minister informed that the government was devising a new policy for gram panchayats in order to provide fair and transparent governance to villagers and to strengthen and develop villages with sufficient funds.

“At present, the State has 8,500 gram panchayats. With the transformation of tribal hamlets into new panchayats, the total will go up to 14,500,” he added.

Stating that the government was introducing several welfare schemes for the development of all sections of the society, he further added that several surveys conducted at the national level had already predicted TRS coming to power in 2019 polls.

Terming Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jana Reddy as ‘paper tigers’, he predicted TRS would win all the 12 Assembly and two MP seats in erstwhile Nalgonda district. Former MLAs Nomula Narsimhaiah, Venepally Chander Rao, former DCCB Chairman Yadavelly Vijayender Reddy, ZPTC Nagamani, MPP Nagamani, Sarpanch Jupally Srinivas and party local leaders were present during the media meet.
