Suryapet: The district police on Friday arrested six persons in connection with torching of files of Legal Metrology department. The arrested persons were identified as Ashok Rao, a Legal Metrology department officer, Huzurnagar petrol bunk owner P Nagaiah, workers S Naresh, N Ramesh, officer’s driver S Rajeswar Reddy and M Nagaraju, who made duplicate key of the office.

According to Superintendent of Police Prakash Jadhav, few persons lodged a complaint with Civil Supplies Commissioner C V Anand against petrol bunk frauds of some Pasupuleti brothers, which was located at Huzurnagar.

On November 29, an outstation officer along with district Legal Metrology department officials conducted raids on the said petrol bunk and recovered chips having four pulsar boxes and mother boards which were used to cheat the customers to gain more profits.

Soon, the officials concerned identified the hi-tech fraud in the petrol bunk and seized the pulsar boxes and mother boards and shifted them to district Legal Metrology office at Suryapet. They were to send the boxes to lab for testing.

However, on December 5, a fire broke out in the office and pulsar boxes were burnt. Next day, the officials lodged a complaint with the police.

Suryapet CI Mogilaiah, who visited the spot, grew suspicious and came to an opinion that it was not an accident but was planned by some miscreants. During the investigation, the cops collected all the evidences and arrested the accused persons.
