Khammam: The Congress criticised the TRS government for being insensitive towards the issues faced by the farmers. Addressing party cadres here on Wednesday, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Aitham Satyam said the crop loan waiver was not properly implemented, as a result, thousands of farmers were still waiting for clearance of their dues.
“The TRS which promised crop loan waiver during the 2014 elections failed to implement it at one go. It led to the escalation of interest leaving farmers high and dry,” Satyam said.He said though the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced on March 13, 2016 that government would clear the interest amount on waived off crop loans, it remained a promise.
Even though Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy had submitted to the Speaker S Madhushana Chary the proof of bank notices sent to the farmers on how thousands of farmers were forced to pay the loan with interest, the government failed to act on it, Satyam said.
Later, the DCC president along with senior leaders Kotha Sriramulu, MD. Tajuddin, V Jayaraj, Nagati Chandrasekhar, B Srinivasa Rao, Y Srinivas, M Pullaiah, Fareed Khadri, Md Isaak, Nanne Bache and Nagaraju submitted a memorandum to the joint collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy.
