Gutka worth Rs 9 lakh seized
The police seized banned gutka packets worth Rs 9 lakh which was being transported illegally in an RTC bus at Kusumanchi in Khammam on Wednesday.
Khammam: The police seized banned gutka packets worth Rs 9 lakh which was being transported illegally in an RTC bus at Kusumanchi in Khammam on Wednesday.
According to Circle Inspector Vasanth Kumar, the sub-inspector Raghu along with his team found banned gutka packets hidden in bags in an Hyderabad-bound RTC bus during the regular vehicle check at Kusumanchi on Wednesday. The police also nabbed two persons involved in the illegal transportation of the contraband.
One of the accused was identified as Chennarapu Vasudeva Rao, resident of Khammam who runs a retail shop. Due to checking of private vehicles, Rao, who wanted to earn easy money, chose to transport the gutka packets in an RTC bus with the help of his workers, informed the CI.
On a tip-off, police officials under the leadership of sub-inspector Raghu conducted a vehicle check and nabbed the accused transporting the contraband worth Rs 9 lakh. The CI appreciated the team of police officials that included ASI Seema and others.
