Khammam: The students of Pharm-D, who were on a relay hunger strike for the last six days, took out a massive rally holding placards from Pavilion Grounds to Dharna Chowk in Khammam on Tuesday. The students met CPM senior leader Sitaram Yechury and explained him about their problems. They also submitted a representation requesting him to take issue to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Congress Party MP Renuka Chowdhury and YSRCP district president Lakkineni Sudheer extended their support to the agitating students. “The government must implement GO No 515 immediately besides creating Clinical Pharmacist posts in all government hospitals for providing jobs to Pharm-D students,” the YSRCP leader demanded.

Meanwhile, TJAC district chairman Dr S Papa Rao along with district convenor Bhadru Naik, in a statement released, extended their support to Pharm-D students. They said nearly 3,000 students every year were completing Pharm-D studying and were staying idle without any jobs. “Without accommodating the Pharm-D graduates, how can the government continue admitting students into the course?” they questioned.

Congress party leader Nunna Ravi, CITU leader Naveen Reddy, TNSF leader N Ranjith, Srikanth, Mahajana Sangham leader D Lakshman Rao visited Dharna Chowk and extended their support to agitating students. Pharm-D students Shaik Yakub Pasha, J Mahendar, T Anitha, Mallesh, S Shivani, Y Kavya, V Vamshi, Leena, Nikhitha, Naveena, K Mounika, Naveen, Srikanth Reddy, Nithin, K Hemanth and Shwetha were present along with others.
