Kothagudem: The Health department is geared up week-long celebrations of Deworming Day here in Kothagudem on Thursday. The District Medical and Health Officer Dr Dayanandha Swamy addressing a gathering of staff and students on the occasion, explained the importance of deworming.

He informed that the programme would be conducted in the district from February 9 to 15, in all villages and added that health officers and staff would take part in the awareness programmes. He said children between the age group of nine and 15 must be mandatorily administered the Albendazole tablets for preventing the growth of worms in their bodies and for their health.

Earlier, the DMHO inaugurated a rally and displayed the wall posters designed for the programme. Mandal Development Officer K Dhansingh, Dr Bhasker, Dr P Vinod and students participated the programme.

Make use of advanced medical services in govt hospitals, women told
Kothagudem: Women should take care of their health, suggested District Women Welfare Officer Jhansi Laxmi Bai here on Thursday. Addressing the gathering during an awareness programme on health, she suggested the women to make use of advanced medical services available at the government hospitals.

Free medical examinations are being conducted for women by several NGOs, she said, adding that pregnancy issues were found in a major number of women in the district. Women development department officers and representatives of NGOs participated in the programme.
