DRDA officials told to work towards uplift of women

Bhongir: District Collector Anita Ramachandran directed the field staff of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) to put all their efforts to eradicate poverty and increase the socio-economic conditions of women.

On Wednesday, the Collector conducted a review meeting with mandal coordinators and Assistant Project Officers of DRDA on Streenidhi scheme at local MPDO office. Addressing the officials, she said Camp Clerks (CC) should play a key role in recovering cent per cent personnel loans sanctioned to women under Streenidhi.

She advised the officials to prepare comprehensive plans to increase the income of women. The Collector expressed her concern over the poor performance of CCs and APMs at ground level and advised them not to bring bad name to the government. She advised them provide training to women groups to improve their skills and income.

Expressing concern over the distribution of 2,649 buffalos against the district target of 6,000 under dairy scheme, she advised women to form groups to avail the scheme benefits. The Collector directed the officials concerned to establish handlooms readymade showrooms at Choutuppal and Pochampally to provide employment to women and sanction cups, phenyl, paper plate manufacturing units to women to help them get permanent income.
