Mahbubnagar: There is good news for farmers who are losing land under Udandapur reservoir, after a long wait and ambiguity over finalising the rehabilitation package. The district administration has finally decided to distribute Rs 101 crore to all farmers losing land under the prestigious Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project (PRRLI).
According to Laxmi Narayana, Revenue Development Officer (RDO), Mahbubnagar, all formalities have been completed for the land acquisition under the Udandapur reservoir. About 1,484 acres of land has been demarcated to be acquired from the farmers under Vollur, Udandapur, Khanapur, Teegalapally, Karkonda and Siddotam villages.
“As part of land acquisition process, we held a series of meetings with the farmers and land losers under the Udandapur reservoir and finalised the land acquisition process. Cheques for an amount of Rs 101 crore have already been prepared and very soon we are going to distribute the same to the farmers,” said Laxmi Narayana, while interacting with reporters at a meeting held in Jadcherla Mandal on Wednesday.
Out of a total of nearly 1,500 acres of land to be acquired under Udandapur reservoir, the officials decided to acquire 830 acres of agriculture land in Vollur, 551 acres in Udandapur, and another 303 acres under Khanapur village. For all this, a package of Rs 101 crore is being finalised.
The officials have decided to pay a package of Rs 50 crore for 830 acres in Vollur, Rs 33.12 crore for 551 acres in Udandapur, Rs 18 crore for 303 acres in Khanapur. “Even though some farmers in Teegalapally and Karkonda villages have been given Rs 11.38 crore earlier, still another Rs 5.50 crore is yet to be distributed to them.
However, as per the farmers request, we have decided to distribute all cheques at one go. Because of this, we have taken some time finalise the list. Now, as we have completed all formalities and prepared all cheques, the farmers will get their rehabilitation package by next few days,” informed the RDO.
As part of the rehabilitation package, all farmers of the above-mentioned villages will be shifted to the outskirts of Jadcherla mandal. The villagers of Vallur have already been allocated government land at Bandameedipally village for rehabilitation, and the villagers of Udandapur have been allocated land near Jadcherla wherein the government will help them built their houses with all amenities like roads, drainages, power, water, school building and other necessary facilities. Along with Laxmi Narayna, DEE Nirmal Kumar, AE Balaswamy and other officials participated in the meeting for finalising the land acquisition process for Udandapur reservoir.
