Bhadrachalam: The famed Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple wore a festive look with colourful decorations and special pujas on account of the Pushyami Nakshatram here on Tuesday. Priests performed special pujas and conducted Pattabhishekam to Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana on the occasion. Priests also conducted Nitya Kalyanam to the presiding deities. The deities were decorated with colourful clothes and flowers.

After Nitya Kalyanam, the priests conducted Pattabhishekam programme at the Bedamandapam on the temple premises. Chitta Nakshatram is being conducted every month in traditional way in the temple for the last several years. Several devotees participated in the programme and performed special pujas in the temple. Chief priest of the temple P Jagannadha Charyulu, speaking to The Hans India, said Lord Rama was a king and therefore the Pattabhishekam was conducted in this temple.

Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam was the only temple in the world to conduct Pattabhishekam to Lord Rama, he said. He said according to Ramayana, Lord Rama had become the king of Ayodhya on the day of Pushyami Nakshatram and Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple here conducted special programmes and pujas on that day every month, he said. The main events of the Bramhothsavalu, Lord Rama’s wedding day, would be held on March 26 and Pattabhishekam would be held on March 27, he added.
