He was attending as a chief guest at the International Women’s Day celebrations organised under the Central Library here.

Speaking on the occasion, Md. Qamar said that unlike in the past, the women of today were not confining themselves to their houses. They were struggling hard to be successful in life and get self-recognition. The Libraries Department is playing a vital role by extending its support to the women and girl students by providing the books along with establishing special library rooms for women and girls, he added.

By availing the opportunity many girls students successfully faced the competitive examinations with ease and grabbed the jobs, he pointed.

The District Social Welfare Officer Sri Latha, speaking on the occasion, said the parents used to fear to send the girls to distant places for education and jobs. Now with the cooperation of parents the girls were competing with men in all fields.

Prizes were distribution to the women and girls who won in the competitions organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day through the hands of Libraries Department Chairman Md. Qamar.

The Librarian R Naganna, ST hostel warden Suchala, Grade-II librarian Karuna Kumari, District Empowerment Foundation Officer Yakub Miya and Asif, R Sathyavathi, B Kalpana, Nagaveni, Aruna and Swaroopa were present along with others.
