Bhongir: CITU district president Komatireddy Chandra Reddy on Friday demanded that the government declare summer holidays for Anganwadi centres on a par with government schools and provide sufficient funds to ICDS to strengthen it.

Addressing a protest demonstration of Anganwadi teachers and helpers in front of the District Collectorate here, he said both Central and State governments were conspiring o hand over the ICDS projects to non-government agencies. The government had allotted meagre funds for the centre, he said.

He demanded that the government provide sufficient funds for smooth running of Anganwadi centres in the district. He also demanded job security for Anganwady employees by amending GO NO. 14.

Emphasising need to provide retirement benefits of Rs 3 lakh to teachers and Rs 2 lakhs to helpers, he urged the government to pay half of the retirement benefit amount with last salary.

He listed out the various problems of Anganwadi and mini Anganwadi centres teachers and helpers and urged the government to address their issues.

Later, a delegation of Anganwadi Union met the District Revenue officer Mahender Reddy and submitted a memorandum.

In this program, Anganwadi union district president Swapna, secretary Rama, leaders Sunananda, Rukmini ,Shobha, jyothi, laxmi , uma, jayapeardha, sapiya, ratnamala and large number of Anganwadi teachers and helpers were participated.
