Mahbubnagar: With an aim to encourage hidden sporting talents of many sports personalities and youth at village, mandal and district levels, the District Youth and Sports department (DYS) of Mahbubnagar is charting out a new sports policy for the district.

As part of this, the District Youth and Sports Officer Satya Vaani conducted a round table with leaders of various sports associations in the district and directed them that all sports associations must be established with proper rules and regulations set up by the district administration, and the same should be registered with DYSO so as to avail benefits of the government for their development.

“We have held a meeting with all major sport associations in the district and directed them to establish mandal-level sports associations by following proper rules and regulations stipulated by the government. We have given them a month’s time to form associations and get them registered with the DYSO,” informed Satya Vaani.

At present, only the associations of Handball, Athletics, Softball, Volley Ball and Yoga are registered with the DYSO. She said as the sports associations were not established with proper rules and regulations, various sports activities being carried out under them were not being recognised and they were losing benefits extended under the sports quota.

“We want all the sports associations to hold proper elections and adopt proper rules and regulations, and correct themselves by amending their regulations and get registered in the DYSO office. Today, we have discussed with all associations as to what needs to be done to evolve a new strong and robust sports policy for the district. We have sought their suggestions and very soon we will come out with a new sports policy for Mahbubnagar district,” informed the DYSO.

The association leaders from the district who took part in the meeting include K B Sriramulu Kabaddi Association, G Rajendra Prasad Athletic Association, R Balaraju Yoga Association, K Chenna Veeraiah Volley Ball Association, Mohd Ziauddin Handball Association, Rajeshwar from Cycling Association and district coaches Sunil Kumar, Khalil, Ajmat and Muniruddin.
