Kodad: The Kodad police on Thursday arrested 11 farmers, a Village Revenue Officer and a Village Revenue Assistant for getting loans of Rs 8 lakh by submitting fake pattadar passbooks at the corporation bank in Kodad.

According to Kodad police, in 2014, Bukya Narayana, Bukya Balaji, Bukya Koteshwar Rao and other farmers along with VRO Redapangu Rama Rao met farmers of Palaram Thanda and stated that they would help them in getting loans against pattadar passbooks from corporation bank located in Kodad.

Respective farmers approached then the accused persons and informed then that they already took loans against their pattadar passbooks from Tripuraram bank. Taking the advantage of innocence of farmers, the accused collected the photo copies of title deeds and pattadar passbooks from them.

And with the help of VRO Rama Rao and VRA Venkat Rao, the accused created duplicate pattadar passbooks by forging the signatures of Tahsildar and Revenue Divisional Officer. Later implementing their plan, Bukya Narayana and Bukya Balaji along with farmers approached the corporation bank and took the loans.

As part of recent land records verification, the officials of bank sent the passbook details for updating at the Tahsildar’s office a week ago, where the officials termed the passbooks duplicate.

Shocked bank officials approached the Kodad police and lodged the complaint. In this connection, police took up investigation and arrested Bukya Narayana, VRO Rama Rao, VRA Venkat Rao and other 10 farmers on Thursday at Palaram and booked cases under forgery and cheating cases. Further, the other two accused Bukya Balaji and Bukya Koteshwar Rao died with illness, Kodad DSP Ramana Reddy informed.
