Kothagudem: As per the State government schedule, the construction of water tanks under Mission Bhagiratha, should be completed before Ugadi festival this year, i.e., March 18. Forget about the construction, the water tanks are still in the first stage of construction, stated tribal leader S Veeraiah. In some agency areas, the construction works are yet to begin, he added.

Mission Bhaghiratha works have been going on a very slow pace in agency areas. The works have neither quality nor completed on time. Particularly in Charla mandal, of the 60 tanks to be constructed here, only 50 per cent tanks were completed. Veeraiah alleged that the contractor’s negligence is delaying the works.

The officials were also neglecting to do their duty and not conducting regular inspection of the construction works.
He demanded the officials concerned to give clarity as to when the construction of water tanks would be completed.

Mission Bhaghiratha divisional engineer said 50 tanks out of the total 60 sanctioned were completed. The construction of water tanks in some areas is going on slow as they are located in thick forest area and due to protection
