A Home Guard has won accolades for returning a purse to a woman who lost it at Khammam crossroads here. The Home Guard, Koteswar Rao Naik, while being on traffic duty at Khammam crossroad on Thursday, found a purse abandoned on the road.

The Home Guard, Koteswar Rao Naik, while being on traffic duty at Khammam crossroad on Thursday, found a purse abandoned on the road.
When he opened the purse, he found Rs 2,300 cash, a gold chain and a mobile phone, according to Traffic sub-inspector Srinivas. He immediately contacted the sub-inspector and brought to the latter’s notice that he had found a purse containing cash, a gold chain and a mobile phone, abandoned on the road.
The traffic police with the help of contact numbers in the mobile phone contacted a relative of the woman and returned the purse to the woman, identified as Radha, resident of Mallacheruvu mandal. Her purse fell when she along with her mother were travelling by an auto-rickshaw to Narketpally in Nalgonda district to attend an interview.Radha thanked the sub-inspector and the Home Guard for helping her retrieve the purse.
