DOST to open doors for web options tomorrow

Addressing a joint media conference with the Commissioner of Collegiate Education (CCE), Navin Mittal and DOST Convener Prof R Limbadri here on Tuesday, he said, that the whole idea of DOST is to ensure that every student who wanted an opportunity to study is not deprived of a seat, if he is eligible, he said.

The DOST Convener Prof R Limbadri said that the DOST and Commissioner of Collegiate Education have come up with a structured online system with technical support from Centre for Good Governance (CGG) to offer all kinds of services online for the students to take admissions in degree courses.

Unlike earlier, the helpline centres at college, district and at the university level are connected through DOST. The improved DOST system this year will make the available courses and colleges with easy access to give web options. About 74 help centres are established across the State to help the students at important places and district headquarters.

Further, steps have been taken that the 2.85 lakh students who were qualified in the recently announced intermediate course can download DOST guidelines along with their online marks lists. That apart, SMS’ were sent to the students' mobiles in Telugu and English to create awareness on DOST, he said. Navin Mittal said the DOST has become an exemplary model for other States in the country to replicate as it is useful for the students. With the improved DOST web service, students could see all the courses available in different colleges located across the State. "With a single online application, they could choose the kind, of course, depending on their eligibility," he said.

Students can register and give their web options from May 10 to 26. With late fee they can register and give web options from May 27 to May 29 and the first list of seat allotment will be done on June 4 and the students will have to report to the college from June 5 to 12.

The second phase of web option only for sliding will take place from June 5 to 14 and list of seat allotment will be notified on June 19. The students will have to report to the colleges from June 20 to 25. The third phase of web options and registration for advance supplementary pass students and those who have not registered and web options for all will be entertained from June 20 to 27, Navin Mittal said.

The third list of seat allotment will be notified on June 30 and the students will have to report to the colleges from July 2 to 4. The first-semester class work will commence from July 7. However, the intra-college phase of switching over from one stream to another within the college will be allowed from July 5 to 7 and final allotment of seats will be done by July 10, he said.
