Miryalguda: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been providing a new lease of life to agriculture sector in general and farmers in particular by implementing various innovative welfare schemes in the State, according to Rajya Sabha MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav.

Addressing the media here in Miryalguda on Monday, Lingaiah Yadav said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had been transforming agriculture segment as a profitable sector.

He said the State Cabinet had approved Rs 5 lakh free life insurance scheme for farmers, adding that that the government would pay the total premium on behalf of farmers as part of the scheme.

In the last four years, the TRS government had waived Rs 17,000 crore loans of farmers, provided free power by spending Rs 10,000 crore, sanctioned Rs 12,000 crore for prestigious Rythu Bandhu scheme and paid Rs 800 crore dues of lift irrigation schemes.

Even though the Chief Minister had been striving hard for the welfare of farmers, the Congress top brass in the State including Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, Venkat Reddy and Revanth Reddy were making baseless comments on the State government for getting political mileage, Lingaiah Yadav said and advised the Opposition party leaders to play a constructive role in the interest of the State.

The entire nation is looking towards the welfare schemes and development activities being carried out by the Telangana government, he underlined.

Local MLA N Bhaskar Rao had been paying special attention for the development of Miryalguda constituency in all aspects, he added.

TRS leaders T Bhargav, Nagarjuna Chary, Srinivas Goud, Pasha, Khader, Madar Baba, Vishnu and others participated in the meet.
