Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal told reporters that the Khammam three town police with the assistance of Khammam town Assistant Commissioner of Police G Venkat Rao the suspects.

The arrested were Mullinti Saleem Malik alias Saleem (24), Dande Venu Gopal alias Venu (23), Narayanapalli Abdul (22), Battu Ramanajaneyulu alias Ramanjee (20) and Badiginchala Manohar (20), residents of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh.

The Police Commissioner, while parading suspects in front of media, said the gangsters used to masquerade as bank officials and secure the debit card details. They used to do so by telling the card-holders that their cards were to be updated by linking with Aadhaar number.

Thus, the cybercriminals cheated the debit card-holders, he said. The police, Tafseer Iqbal said, seized 15 SIM cards and 1.04 lakh from the suspects.

Khammam town Assistant Commissioner of Police G Venkata Rao, Inspector of Police U Venkanna Babu and Sub-inspector Mahesh and Chandra Mohan along with the cyber police team arrested the accused.
