Residents yet to come out of Warangal fireworks factory blast shock

Warangal: A day after the deadly fire accident at Bhadrakali Fire Works at Keerthi Nagar-NTR Nagar locality on Wednesday here, an uneasy calm prevailed in the area as families of the victims are yet to recover from the shock caused by the incident.
As a follow-up action, the Police, Revenue and Fire department officials on Thursday seized two warehouses of Bhadrakali Fire Works located near the manufacturing unit. Another fireworks factory, Sri Raja Rajeshawari Fire Works, in Warangal Urban district was also seized by the officials.
Similarly, raids were conducted on fire crackers shops at Beat Bazar area in Warangal to check fire safety measures. Three fireworks warehouses were also seized in Quila Warangal mandal, informed Warangal Urban the RDO Anka Reddy, who said they would be allowed to operate after verifying safety measures.
Meanwhile, Warangal Police Commissionerate produced the owner of Bhadrakali Fire Works Gundlapalli Raj Kumar before the district court and he was sent to judicial remand.
Warangal Rural district RDO Ch Mahender visited the families of the victims and distributed essential commodities including 25 bags containing rice, tur dal, cooking oil and others. The financial assistance announced by the government would soon be given to them, he said.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary P Annie Rose Christian also visited the accident spot on Thursday and spoke to the concerned officials and learnt about the accident details. She stated that the DLSA would take steps to ensure that the assistance promised by the government reached them at the earliest.
She interacted with the families of the accident victims B Sravani, K Srivani and K Sridevi and moved at the plight of their daughters who were grieving over the loss of their mothers and consoled them. “If required, psychologists would be engaged to provide counselling to the victims’ families to overcome the shock,” she noted.
Many locals with whom the DLSA secretary Christian spoke wanted her to see that disaster-prone fireworks units, warehouses and LPG warehouses in their area should be relocated in other places.
