Khammam: District Supply Officer (DSO) Gouri Shankar informed that Civil Supplies officials were planning to supply onions at Rs 35 per kg through a special counter in Khammam town. According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, the officials held discussions with representatives of Khammam Kirana Jaggery Merchants Association and the representatives agreed to supply onions at cheaper prices. The DSO said that a special counter would be arranged shortly at Rythu Bazaar to sell the onions to customers.
Measures were being taken to control rising prices of essential commodities in the open market, he added. Mr Gouri Shankar also informed that the officials would issue 29,800 new white ration cards to the beneficiaries across the district soon. The Civil Supplies officials have booked 140 cases in connection with illegal transportation and storage of ration rice and kerosene since last January.
