I was threatened not to reveal the incident: Swapna

Kankipadu (Krishna): "We were walking on the road from the bus station on that night. It was around midnight and we crossed the bar located on the road side. The three men came from behind and pulled my pallu," said Devarapalli Swapna, breaking into tears. Swapna, who was the target of the three drunken youth, Goddalla Ramprasad, Goddalla Venkanna and Vemula Venkateswara Rao, was in deep shock since Wednesday evening when she was told about her brother Devarapalli Ravi Teja's death in the hospital. She said that the youth, after pulling her pallu, passed filthy comments on her. "My brother, who did not expect this to happen, shouted at them and warned them of dire consequences. After exchange of verbal dual for awhile, they went back and we started to walk again. They came on a motor cycle and hit my brother from behind using abusive language at him and me. As my brother fell on the road, they beat him up causing bleeding injuries. I was crying for help. All this happened in a few minutes. My brother fell unconscious with blood all over. They warned me against revealing the incident and even threatened to rape me and kill all my family members," Swapna recalled those ill-fated moments. She said she was scared and did not reveal it because of their threat. "I thought my brother would survive and the incident would be a nightmare. But, when my brother died, I felt that I should reveal what had happened," she said and reiterated that the accused must be booked on charges of rape attempt and murder.
