Kurnool: Tree pattas would be given to the people of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes under Indiramma Paccha Toranam scheme, District Collector C Sudarsan Reddy said and appealed to the RDOs, tahsildars, APD, APOs, APMs to make the programme a grand success. Addressing the officials here on Saturday, the collector said that the village committees would identify the lands where not more than 200 saplings would be planted to hand them over the beneficiaries who would also be identified the village committees. He said that the land on both sides of the roads, canal and drain bunds and tank bunds would be identified in each panchayat village in the district to plant saplings. "Depending upon the number of sites for the plantation, the village committee would select the number of beneficiaries," he added. Generally the beneficiaries would comprise of single-mother families, families of Joigini, Matangi, Basivini, Devadasi, bonded labour families, Adivasi families and physically handicapped families, families suffering from chronic diseases, child labaour families, Safai/Karmachari families, the collector said and added that priority would be given to these families. The collector said that each family would be given Rs. 8,785 for digging pits, planting the saplings and to divert rain water to the 200 saplings. The beneficiaries would enjoy the yield from the trees, he added. In addition, he said, Rs. 10,000 to purchase 200 saplings, Rs. 25,000 for the fencing, Rs. 27,000 for nurturing the saplings for the first year, and Rs. 36,000 for the second year, Rs. 33,200 for watering the plants, per annum and Rs. 10,000 for fertilizer would be given. The saplings would include mango, guava, sapota, coconut, custard apple, tamarind, black plum (Neredu), cashewnut among others, he added. The village committees would be assisted by tahsildars and VROs to identify the lands, he said. The collector said that the saplings could be planted on the road side of R&B roads, Panchayat roads, the bunds of LLC, canal, KC Canal, SRCB Canal and other canals. Joint Collector Kanna Babu, DRO Venugopal Reddy, DRDA PD Nazeer Saheb, DWMA Harinadh Reddy, RODs, Tahsildars, APDs and APMs and others were present.
