Kurnool: The Samaikyandhra movement in the district has been further intensified on the 54th day on Sunday and is showing no signs of abatement. In Veldurthi, the Journalists- Joint Action Committee organized a Simha garjana rally in which people belonging to all the sections of the society including political parties cutting across party lines participated. Speaking to the media, the Journalists- JAC leaders said that the Simha garjana was organized to make it known to the Telangana leaders that the Samaikyandhra agitations have spread out into the villages.

Speaking on the occasion, the Pattikonda Y S R Congress Party in-charge Hari Chakrapani Reddy said that the leaders of political parties should abide by the wishes of the people. He said that the role of the political parties is crucial for strengthening the Samaikyandhra movement and spreading them into the interiors of the villages.

In his speech, the Telugu Desam Party MLA from Pattikonda K E Prabhakar said that the people were not following their leaders but it was the leaders who were following the people in the present agitations. Women and children came out in large numbers and raised slogans in favour of united Andhra Pradesh. In Kurnool town, the residents of Adityanagar and Chaitanyapuri colonies formed a Residents-Joint Action Committee and took out a huge rally.

People living in various apartments formed a human chain at the Collectorate. Children were dressed up as Alluri Sitaramaju and Sri Krishna Devaraya. Slogans like “Save our Future” rent the air. People organized a human chain and blocked the roads which disrupted the traffic completely for several hours in Raj Vihar Circle. They warned that they would not give up their claims on Hyderabad as they developed it with their sweat and blood. Teachers registered their protest by eating raw vegetables.
