The suicide case of news reader Mattapalli Tejaswini has taken a new turn and the police, who till now argued it was a case of suspicious death, are now coming to feel that it could be case of dowry death. They have changed the IPC sections of the case from Section 174 to Section 498 A and Section 306.

Tejaswini was found hanging from the ceiling of her home in Edpugallu’s MBMR colony after a tiff with her mother-in-law.

Later, a suicide note alleging dowry harassment and physical violence was found at the spot. Based on this, the sections have been changed. Meanwhile, both Tejaswini’s mother and husband Pawan Kumar refused to take her body to their respective homes. As a result, Pawan consigned her to flames in Vijayawada city.

Doubts are being raised as to why the police took so long a time to change the IPC sections as the suicide note was found on her person on Saturday itself.
