Home guards felicitate CM for enhancing the honorarium

Chandrababu Naidu was felicitated by Andhra Pradesh Home Guards Association at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Monday. 

Vijayawada: The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu praised the services of home guards doing to the police department and the people of Andhra Pradesh and ensured the TDP government is committed for the welfare of police department. Chandrababu Naidu was felicitated by Andhra Pradesh Home Guards Association at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Monday.

The state police department on Monday organised the Aatmeeya Abhinandana Sabha at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium in view of the increasing the daily honorarium of home guards from Rs.300 per day to Rs.600 a day. Home guards from across the state participated in the event. Deputy chief minister China Rajappa, DGP R P Thakur, Home secretary A R Anuradha and other officials attended the felicitation programme.

Addressing the gathering chief minister said that the Andhra Pradesh Home Guard Act was designed in 1948. He said that the home guards render their duties on par with the police in combating natural disasters, peace keeping, traffic duties, criminal investigations and others. The CM said that even after 70 years of designing the home guards act, the home guards did not get any benefit from the previous governments.

The chief minister said that TDP government had enhanced their daily honorarium from Rs 300 to Rs 600. Now the home guards get a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000. He said that through NTR trust everyone will get a maximum of Rs 2.5 lakh for medical treatment. He said that earlier for the funeral expenses of a home guard Rs 1,000 was given to the diseased family member and the funeral expense amount increased to Rs 10,000. For natural death or accidental death of a home guards the deceased family will get Rs 5 lakh ex-gretia, said that CM.

Naidu announced there would be 2 days paid holiday for the home guards. He said that there are about 15,000 home guards are working in the state and home guards quota is eight percent in police recruitment. Three months maternity leave will be granted for women home guards, said the Chief Minister. Home guards thanked the chief minister on the occasion.
