The increase of flood water in the Srisailam project resulted in the good inflows into Nagarjuna dam. About 1,08,587 cusecs water being received into the dam from Srisailam. The water level on Friday has risen to 583 ft against the 590 FRL and the storage capacity to 294 TMCs against 312 TMCs.
S. Sunil, the chief engineer of Nagarjuna Sagar said that they are expecting to lift the crest gates if the water level reaches to full reservoir level. "The gates will be opened once the water level dam attains 585 ft and around 8 pm on Friday, the water level was just two feet short to it," the engineer said speculating that the water level might touch 585 ft today.
