Nirbhaya bicycle ride to create awareness regarding the safety of women

BENGALURU: On the 16th of December, an Indore-based NGO will be conducting a Nirbhaya bicycle ride in the city of Bengaluru and many other cities, the seventh anniversary of the 23-year-old girl, who was brutally raped and murdered in New Delhi.

The main aim of the ride is to create awareness about the safety of women, self-defence, and take the pledge — I’m the Defender — at the end of the rally.

Dr Divya Gupta, belonging to the NGO Jwala, which is all set to be hosting the event along with the cycling groups, she had said that they have trained 1 lakh women in self- defence in the past six years.

In Bengaluru, the ride begins at the Cubbon Park band stand and runs through Kasturba Road, Queen’s Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Dr Ambedkar Veedhi, KR Circle, Nrupathunga Road, Corporation Circle, Kasturba Road, UB City Junction and ends at Cubbon Park. 

The ride will also be held at Chennai, Greater Noida, Kolkata, Bhopal, Lucknow, Indore, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Jammu, Satna, Bathinda, Sonipat, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Kota, Bikaner, Agartala and Guwahati.
