Apart from the officials of CMO, Mission Bhagiratha Engineer-in-Chief Krupakar Reddy, engineers from different districts had also attended the meeting.

The officials have explained that out of 23,968 habitations, the bulk water supply under the scheme has been reaching only 23,947 habitations.

Only 21 villages which are located in hilly, forest and remote areas are yet to get the bulk supply. They also said that the tap connections have been provided to 95% of households and the constructions of Over Head Reservoirs are on the fast track.

The Chief Minister also made it crystal clear that the deadline to supply water to all the habitations is January 10, 2019 and by March 31, 2019 the work that is pertaining to individual household connections will be provided without failure.

Once the piped drinking water supply begins from April 1, it should be continuing without any disruption and it should be supplied regularly without giving any hardships to the people. Officials should keep it in mind that once the people get used to consuming quality drinking water, they will not be able to consume water from any other source. It is a much bigger responsibility, he said.

Mr Rao said that, many other States are now adopting and replicating the Mission Bhagiratha scheme and are looking for the cooperation of the Telangana state government.
