The cybercrime cases in the city are on the rise and around 410 cases have been registered till December 13, 2018, said Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar. "There has been a drastic rise in the number of cybercrime cases registered compared to last two years. In 2017, as many as 325 cases were registered while in 2016, the number was 288," said the CP adding that crimes pertaining to Facebook and other social media handles were also risen from 29 cases in 2017 to 45 in 2018.

"As Hyderabad is emerging as an IT hub, the number of cybercrime cases have also been increasing with the increase of employees from the other cities in the state," said Anjani Kumar. "The accused in most of the cases were from outside the state and it is very difficult and time consuming for the police to solve the case," said a police officer. So far, the police have resolved 150 cyber cases.
