Bengaluru: On Thursday a four-year-old boy who went missing on the 1st of January was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a eucalyptus grove which is located 300m away from his residence in the village named Doddadunnasandra near Anugondanahalli, Hoskote.

The police have said that the body of Reens Kumar was found on Thursday morning and there were no visible injuries. “We suspect the miscreants may have smothered him to death. We are awaiting the postmortem report to know the exact cause of death,” a police officer said.

Police have filed a case of murder and destruction of evidence based on the complaint by the father of the child, Sibesh Kumar, who belongs to Gumla, Jharkhand.

Sibesh, along with his wife Rajamuni Devi and their younger son, Reens, had came to Doddadunnasandra in the month of February 2018. Sibesh, who has been working as a labourer at the godown of an online marketing company, had quit the job recently and was looking for a new one, said the police.

Sibesh claimed that he had consumed alcohol on New Year and was resting at his residence. Later a group of youngsters gathered outside his house and created a commotion at around 6 PM. They then scattered only after the landlord, Channaraya Reddy, arrived and shooed them away. The couple realised at 6.30 PM that their son is missing and were looking for him the whole night and the next morning.

“They had looked for their son at the eucalyptus grove too. We suspect the boy was killed somewhere else and his body was dumped at the grove later,” said a police officer.

On Thursday morning, some neighbours had informed the couple that a body of a boy has been discovered at the grove. They identified their son and informed the police. Probe is underway.
