BENGALURU: Prakash Raj the multilingual actor, who had announced his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls from the Bangalore Central segment, has said that his intention is to contest as an independent as he “may not survive beyond three months” if he joins a political party. However, Raj, 53, said that the secular parties are welcome to support his candidature.

Raj said the decision of politics was taken in the backdrop of the experience which he gained during the assembly election last year, when he travelled the state extensively and realized the voice of the people needed to be heard.

He said that he chose the Bangalore Central because, “I was born at St Martha’s hospital. I went to schools and college here and I joined cinema in Gandhinagar. I began my journey from here. So, my roots are here. That’s why I chose this constituency.” he said.

He also said that he will be on a tour for all the eight assembly segments of the constituency from the 20th of January 20 and will be finalizing “the manifesto of the people” soon.
